Beloved Students:
I greet you at a time that is somewhat precarious. Indeed, I see those of you who have heavy hearts for the planet, for your friends and loved ones, and for the places in your own lives that seem to avoid the resolution you seek. Let us, together, find joy in the beauty of the season, and let us support each other, that the process of Earth’s glorification may continue.
I am dictating this article on Mother’s Day. Yet, since you will not receive this June teaching until closer to Father’s day, I will be seeding the thought fields around each of you for peaceful and kind thoughts of your parents. For some of you, this might be a stretch, since you still have your parents cast in a problematic role. Yet, if you could only stretch beyond your smaller sense of who they are/were, I believe it will be helpful in generating more softness in the complicated relationship of Earth to all her children. Oh yes, you will benefit as well; you always benefit when you can step through the veil of previously held notions and try to see afresh.
In the recorded lesson this month (A New Point of Critical Mass) I offer what I think is a very precious story of mothering. While I won’t spoil the suspense at this point, I do hope each of you finds something magical and wonderful in the telling that will inspire you at this most interesting, often provocative time. One of the reasons I am focusing on that relationship with the Mother is because this is a time when I hope to help each of you cultivate a flow of strength and gentleness with your planetary mother.
This is a very interesting time to be a spiritual teacher. Not only is there much going on in the consciousness factors of all my students, there is much to consider and process at the planetary level, as well. Indeed, you are probably noticing that virtually every part of personal and planetary life is presenting for processing. While it may be tempting to lose yourself in your own personal struggles, please know that your larger task is to comprehend well Earth’s journey.
Everywhere you look, there are clamoring factors begging your attention and input. While I know this can be overwhelming, you are being called to arise from those couches of overwhelm and to become part of the enlightened force for positive creation that will bring about a planetary revolution.
Now that word “revolution” is an interesting one, isn’t it? What I am suggesting here is not a blood-in-the-streets kind of revolution. It is a revolution of the Heart, which will be fueled by the energy offered up as individuals revolutionize their own hearts. In this case, the revolution of which I am here speaking is not a revolt against something. Rather, it is movement from the “normalized” (perhaps somewhat crystallized) lower frequency heart energies into those of higher, more rarified, heart-transforming frequencies. If it sounds like I am talking about beautiful music here, good!
One of the attributes you can note in times of rapid change is a kind of distressing, often noisy, caco-phony that has a tendency to drown out the harmonic potential of life. With the level of chaos that now present for planetary attention and resolution, the cacophonous roar only increases. In such times, it is very easy to lose your center, collapsing into the abundant destructive energy forms with which you are bombarded.
While there is little you can do about which and/or how much chaotic energy comes your way, there is something you can do about how you react to it. This is where the lovely story I offer in our teaching this month comes in. Well, there are actually two parts to the lesson. One level of the teaching is drawn from the remarkable wisdom and persistent patience of a goose, from which I hope you take inspiration and dedication to your tasks. The other teaching example is drawn from the pagoda, an ancient symbol for equanimity and compassion, from which I hope you will harvest some skillful means.
The depth journey this month takes you into the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. What I do not mention in the recorded lesson (but will here) is a suggestion that you take this opportunity to look at places within your own process where something toxic might be pouring into the more pristine aspects of your own mind. While it is tempting to stay focused on who is to blame for the mess in the Gulf, I urge you to use the reflection coming to you in the outer world to gain new and deeper insight for your inner world.
Sooner or later the mature spiritual aspirant must ask the question, “Why is this information coming to me?” The lesser-evolved answer is that you are getting the information because it is being put out all over the world by the news media. I urge you to go deeper, however, and note that from a spiritual perspective, information comes to you for a reason. What will you do with the information you receive? Can you dance with the information to perhaps activate some healing movement for yourself or the planet?
Sometimes receiving information can lead to some remarkable results. Many barbers and beauticians are saving the hair clippings from their customers and shipping them in bulk to the clean-up crews in the Gulf. Now granted, it is going to take a lot of hair to mop up the amount of oil now flowing in the Gulf, but the picture is really much larger than counting the number of hairs that make their way to the Gulf. Sending the hair is an act of dedicated service on the parts of the barbers and beauticians who send it. You could say that it is a form of bodhichitta practice, since each and every fragment of hair is dedicated to a specific work.
In truth, it is the intention behind the gift of the hair that informs the task, and empowers those who carry it out. As you listen to the recorded lesson this month, you will learn some additional ways to apply your meditation skills and resources to the oil slick clean-up. Can you draw a one-to-one correspondence between purifying the body of Earth and purifying your own body?
While you may be able to entertain the concept that your body and that of Earth are one, it is of even greater usefulness if you can blend your personal work with your understanding of the work that needs to happen for the planet. Oh, yes, there are many large and grave matters arising for your planet at this time. Some of you nurture some fear that you might contaminate yourself if you create a mystical joining between yourself and Earth, or if you take on some of Her spiritual work. If you find yourself in this group, go deeper.
This is such an important time to rise into your divine nature, your highest level of magnificence. Indeed, times like these allow for your greatness to come forth – if you will allow it. Granted, you do need to call yourself to great mindfulness, but perhaps even more important is the fact that your planet is counting on you to stand in that magnificence for which you were born.
What will be Earth’s condition when you are called to leave your current physical expression? Will the planet be better is some small way for your having taken physical form, for your having occupied some of Her space and having consumed Her resources? Carefully look back over your life to this point. See it as a journey upon a gracious and beautiful planet. What kind of tracks are you leaving? Are they light, delicate, and respectful, or have they scarred Earth’s body, plundered Her resources, and perhaps compromised Her beauty?
Has your journey been one of taking from Earth or one of giving back to Earth? How do you relate to her other offspring? While some people are actually capable of entering the world of a goose, a robin a cat or dog, there are others who only see them as being useful for target practice. This kind of dark energy is a form of sha chi, a distortional energy which, as you will learn in the recorded lecture this month, can be mitigated by the pagoda.
As you will also learn, the goose in our recorded lesson knows something quite wonderful about pagoda energy. I hope each of you will be blessed in some amazing way by hearing her story. I think she is a worthy offspring of an abundant Earth. While you are not likely to go out and “become” the goose, I believe you can go out and become the pagoda.
Always remember that you have come from Love. Indeed, there is no other source from which you could dome. Further, Love is your sustaining power, and eventually, when your path here is complete, Love will call you home. As a child of love, walk in love, share love with all you meet, and dedicate the fruits of your spiritual work to the Source of all Love.
Your loving Teacher,
